Sidi Kaouki — the surfers' beach
About 25 km south of Essaouira (around 30 minutes), Sidi Kaouki is a long, wind-swept beach popular with surfers and with fans of horse and camel rides. An easy round trip for a day in the open air.
Diabat — dunes and legend
Just a few kilometres south of town (about fifteen minutes), the village of Diabat and its dunes can be reached by car and then on foot. A peaceful setting between river and ocean, ideal for a short escape.
The back-country and the argan forest
Heading inland from the coast, you enter the land of the argan tree, emblematic of Essaouira. Villages, argan oil cooperatives and rolling landscapes unfold along the road, at your own pace.
